Ingredients

  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 1¼ cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1½ cups margarine (or half margarine, half shortening)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 4¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 bag (300 to 340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips, or a little more

Method

  1. In a large bowl, beat the sugar, brown sugar and margarine (or margarine and shortening) until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the vanilla and eggs and blend well.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Form the dough into balls, put them in a bowl and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Heat the oven to 375°F. Bake on ungreased pans for 11 to 12 minutes.

Tip: Make the balls a little messy for a bumpy, bakery look. Good heavy pans like Baker’s Secret work well.
