Bedford is a former town at the northwest end of the Bedford Basin, about 20 minutes from downtown Halifax. DeWolf Park and the waterfront boardwalk are the centre of community life, and Hemlock Ravine Park has wooded walking trails.
Older Bedford around the Bedford Highway has established streets and mature trees, while Bedford South and Bedford West along Larry Uteck Boulevard have newer homes, townhouses and condos. Sunnyside Mall, the Bedford Basin Farmers Market and the BMO Centre are all close by.
